Christian Leadership
UPDATE!
Coming Very Soon!
As briefly mentioned on my About page, I have a BS in Ministry Leadership as well as a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry in Leadership and a Master of Arts in Religion in Leadership. For several years now I have felt like I am supposed to write a book on leadership. A few years ago I spent a lot of time researching the subject and started writing it. Unfortunately, the flash drive that I had my files on became corrupted and I lost all of the work that I had previously done on the book.
I was very disappointed. I hated the thought of starting over and procrastinated on starting to write again. At the same time, I realized that my ideas for the book had shifted directions slightly. The main focus and theme of the book had not changed but I had realized that some of my reasoning and logic for the book had become focused in a better direction Biblically.
Recently my local library (where I work part-time) started a writer's group. It had already been on my mind that I needed to start writing again. So, I got excited about the writer's group and that gave me the incentive to start writing again. I currently have most of the introduction written as well as parts of three chapters. It is a long ways from being completed but at least I have now started writing again.
One thing that used to bother me about writing a book is that it can be extremely difficult for a new author to get his or her book published. Even if you can get your book published, it is even harder for your book to make a significant amount of sales. Most authors are never published and many of those who are published, never make enough sales to earn a living from their writing.
I eventually came to understand that sometimes the writing can be as important as publishing and selling the book. That may not make sense to many people. First of all, the writing can be therapeutic and helpful to the author in organizing and presenting their thoughts. Secondly, the research portion of the project should deepen the author's knowledge and understanding on the subject. The publishing and selling of the book is important but not as important to me. I do understand that most other authors feel differently about this subject, but for me, the writing is the most important part.
Of course, if no one reads your book, are you really communicating your information? The answer is "no." You are sharing your information and understanding of the subject but it must be read by others to be truly communicated. But for now, the writing is the important thing and what I am concentrating on. After the book is completed and edited properly, then I will consider how to maybe get it published and sold.
Important Update!
The book has been written and is now in the final editing and designing stages. Followership: A Theological Understanding of Christian Leadership is coming soon. Check back here for more information!
